Nitride is generally better. Phosphate is essentially parkerization, nitride is harder and more corrosion resistant. Chrome lining is a superior bore treatment - by a little bit and for some use cases - but phosphate is a vastly inferior exterior treatment for longevity and corrosion. Nitride is harder and cannot flake off as it’s a metal surface treatment rather than a coating. NiB offers more lubricity, but a properly made nitride carrier will still be superior to phosphate. This is a 16" phosphate mid that came with a BCG and CH and it works just fine. Got about $340 in this gun.
